The Nevadan: Nevada AG Candidate [Fralick] Vows to Fight Abuse, But Defends Accused Predator

After boasting about trying to gut the Affordable Care Act as disgraced former Governor Jim Gibbons’ general counsel, Adriana Guzmán Fralick called him a “great guy” in newly resurfaced audio.

If anyone needs a reminder of just how corrupt and toxic disgraced former Gov. Gibbons is, here’s a brief rundown of his controversies:

  • In 2006, he was accused of making inappropriate sexual advances and comments to Chrissy Mazzeo, a cocktail server who alleged that Gibbons also grabbed her by the wrist in a Las Vegas parking garage and told her not to resist.
  • In April 2009, divorce papers filed by Gibbons’s wife were unsealed, exposing that she had accused him of infidelity with two women.
  • He also allegedly used his state-issued cell phone to conduct an affair with a woman named Kathy Karrasch in 2007. Gibbons repaid the state $130 for the over 800 text messages he sent to her, but denied that they were “love notes.”
  • He was embroiled in credible accusations of pay-to-play schemes and used his position of political power to divert money towards his family’s interests. In 2008, he was investigated by the FBI for allegedly taking money and a Caribbean cruise from eTreppid Technologies founder Warren Trepp in exchange for securing defense contracts for the  company while in Congress.

The Nevadan: Nevada AG candidate vows to fight abuse, but defends accused predator

  • Adriana Guzmán Fralick recently called former Gov. Jim Gibbons (R) a “great guy”—despite sexual assault allegations against him.
  • In a Veterans in Politics Talk on Aug. 15, Guzmán Fralick said working with Gibbons is what inspired her to run for Attorney General.
  • “I worked for former Gov. Jim Gibbons… great guy, I worked for him on his general counsel,” Guzmán Fralick said on the podcast. “That’s when I found out how important it is to have an attorney general that’s going to work really well, hand in hand with the governor.”
  • Guzmán Fralick is campaigning on tougher sentencing, increased government transparency, and helping domestic abuse victims.
  • Despite advocating for aiding victims, Guzmán Fralick has also touted President Donald Trump’s endorsement on the campaign trail, despite Trump’s long record of alleged sexual assault and other alleged crimes.
  • Guzmán Fralick will face off against outgoing Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro (D) this November in the race for Attorney General.
  • Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Asaf Grofman told The Nevadan the comments Guzmán Fralick made about Gibbons were “concerning.”
  • “The fact that her judgement of disgraced former Gov. Jim Gibbons is that he’s a ‘great guy’ is even more concerning for someone who wants to be Nevada’s top cop,” Grofman wrote in a statement.
